What is College Signing Day?

4th Camden College Signing Day

On Friday, May 2, 2025, Camden Education Fund, in partnership with the City of Camden, will proudly host the 4th Annual Citywide College Signing Day. Seniors from Camden’s district, charter, renaissance, private, and parochial schools are invited to take part in this citywide celebration.

Inspired by Former First Lady Michelle Obama’s College Signing Day initiative under Reach Higher, this event is part of a national movement with over 3,000 celebrations across the country. Here in Camden, we’re honored to continue this tradition—celebrating our seniors not just with fanfare, but with a strong message: we are proud of you, we believe in you, and we can’t wait to see what you do next.

This day is all about honoring the Class of 2025—students who have committed to a college, university, trade or technical program, or military service. It’s a moment for them to be recognized for their hard work and to be welcomed into the next phase of their journey. Students will connect with representatives from their future institutions and begin building bonds with classmates from across the city.

With an expected crowd of 800+ college-bound students, the event will be full of energy—featuring a pep rally vibe, school shout-outs, scholarships, and more. It’s more than a celebration—it’s a send-off to the future.

Previous College Signing Day Events

We are deeply saddened and disturbed by the murder of George Floyd at the hands of police officers in Minneapolis. George’s story is the story of too many Black Americans – Ahmaud Arbery, Breona Taylor, Trayvon Martin, and so many more, named and unnamed by the media— brutally and senselessly killed.

This loss of Black life and our persistent failure to bring those responsible to account expose the most grotesque, painful truth about our nation: the enduring legacy of white supremacy.

We will not heal until things change.

Camden Education Fund stands in solidarity with the Black community.

We remain deeply committed to bringing resources to support our public schools and the extraordinary youth-serving organizations in Camden, as we believe these are the institutions with the greatest potential to show our children, daily, that their lives and dreams matter.

The reality is that all organizations – ours included – have so much more work to do. We will hold ourselves accountable to building an organization that advances equity, promotes understanding, and dismantles racist structures.
