Camden Education Fund Hosts Black Male Educators Following 2025 Black Men in Education Convening

Camden, New Jersey (December 3, 2025) – Camden Education Fund (CEF) hosted a Black Male Educators Happy Hour to celebrate Camden school-based Black male educators who participated in the 2025 Black Men in Education Convening (BMEC) in Philadelphia, hosted by the Center for Black Educator Development.

This year, CEF invested $10,000 to sponsor Camden educators’ attendance at BMEC, the largest gathering of Black male educators in the nation. The event provided educators with opportunities to learn, connect, and engage in meaningful dialogue around elevating Black male representation in education.

“We view bringing together Black male educators in Camden as a critical component of building a supportive and thriving community,” said Giana Campbell, Chief Executive Officer of Camden Education Fund. “This investment is part of a larger set of commitments CEF has made over the last five years to create a more diverse and effective educational workforce in Camden.”

The Happy Hour gathering extended the spirit of BMEC by providing space for fellowship, reflection, and continued community building among local Black male educators. CEF looks forward to hosting additional events and opportunities that uplift and empower educators throughout Camden.

We are deeply saddened and disturbed by the murder of George Floyd at the hands of police officers in Minneapolis. George’s story is the story of too many Black Americans – Ahmaud Arbery, Breona Taylor, Trayvon Martin, and so many more, named and unnamed by the media— brutally and senselessly killed.

This loss of Black life and our persistent failure to bring those responsible to account expose the most grotesque, painful truth about our nation: the enduring legacy of white supremacy.

We will not heal until things change.

Camden Education Fund stands in solidarity with the Black community.

We remain deeply committed to bringing resources to support our public schools and the extraordinary youth-serving organizations in Camden, as we believe these are the institutions with the greatest potential to show our children, daily, that their lives and dreams matter.

The reality is that all organizations – ours included – have so much more work to do. We will hold ourselves accountable to building an organization that advances equity, promotes understanding, and dismantles racist structures.
